Furniture care I wish I started earlier...🛋️

hi friends!!!

one of my recent bigger purchases was this couch from WayFair and i love it as a starter couch!

but... i wish i started taking better care of it as soon as i got it🥹

what i mean by that is that i wish i sprayed it with a protective spray that would stop any stains from deepening or my cat from using the corners as a scratch post...

i also wish i bought a steamer sooner because i feel like the color has deepened a little (from wear and tear) which is natural, but it probably could have been saved from the start!

how do you take care of your couch??

One of the most effective preventive measures is using protective sprays designed to shield fabric surfaces from stains and spills. These sprays create a barrier that helps prevent liquids from penetrating deep into the fabric, making stains easier to clean and reducing permanent discoloration. Pets, especially cats, can cause additional wear on furniture by clawing and pulling threads. Applying a pet-safe protective spray and providing scratching alternatives can minimize damage. Additionally, regular grooming of pets and trimming their nails reduces the risk of them turning your couch into a scratching post. Steam cleaning is another valuable practice in furniture maintenance. It revitalizes the fabric by removing dirt, oils, and allergens trapped in the upholstery. This process also brightens colors and restores vibrancy, counteracting the natural fading that occurs with use. Ideally, steam cleaning should be done periodically to prevent stains from settling too deep and becoming permanent. Combining these methods—using protective sprays from the start, protecting against pet damage, and scheduling regular steam cleanings—can significantly extend your couch’s lifespan and maintain its aesthetic appeal. Investing in these care routines early saves money in the long term by avoiding costly repairs or replacements. Moreover, well-maintained furniture contributes to a healthier indoor environment by reducing allergens. In summary, the key furniture care tips include: 1. Applying fabric protective sprays immediately after purchase. 2. Preventing pet-related damage by training and using cat-safe sprays. 3. Regularly steam cleaning to refresh and preserve fabric color and texture. By adopting these habits, you ensure your couch remains a beautiful centerpiece in your living space for years to come.
