When and when not to respond

When you meet someone who wants to stir up anger and not want to listen and learn from others views and you become heated as well then you have lowered yourself to their level. But if they say something they think is right(and is not)and you answer in correction then you are wise. Know when to respond and when to walk away. Or you too will be the fool.

... Read moreDrawing from personal experience, I've found that mastering the art of when to speak up and when to stay silent is crucial for maintaining healthy relationships and inner peace. Often, people try to provoke reactions without any intention of understanding your viewpoint. Engaging with such individuals usually leads to frustration and wasted energy. The key is to recognize cues signaling when the other person isn’t open to dialogue — in those moments, walking away is a sign of strength, not weakness. On the other hand, there are times when misinformation or incorrect beliefs need gentle correction to prevent misunderstandings from spreading. Responding with calm facts and respect can help illuminate the truth without escalating conflict. The wisdom lies in discerning these situations carefully, just like the proverb from Mishlei (Proverbs) 26:4-5 advises: "Don't answer a fool in terms of his folly, or you will be descending to his level; but answer a fool as his folly deserves, so that he won't think he is wise." In my journey, applying this balance has not only saved me from many pointless disputes but also helped me foster meaningful conversations where learning and mutual respect prevail. Remember, engaging in every argument can exhaust your energy and cloud your judgment, so learning when to respond and when to walk away is an essential life skill that improves emotional wellbeing and social interactions.
