The research team said that the hackers behind the malware used the malware to attack D-Link DIR-823X routers through the CVE-2025-29635 vulnerability, a vulnerability that allows hackers to fire commands and injections on routers. In addition to attacking such routers, the research team also found that hackers have used such malware to attack other brands of routers, such as the TP-Link Archer AX21 through the CVE-2023-1389 vulnerability and ZTE ZXV10 H108L through the Exploit.

In addition to the above malware, a research team from FortiGuard, a subsidiary of the famous network technology developer Fortinet, has detected a parallel campaign of "Nexus Team" hackers aimed at DVR or Digital Video Recorder through the CVE-2024-3721 vulnerability, using the first Sophisticated malware "Nexcorium" by creating four forms of persistence on the system at the same time.

After all four steps are completed, the malware will immediately delete the Binary file to defuse traces. All devices infected with these malware will be deployed to launch a larger system, known as DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service).
