Claude Opus 5 accidentally deleted the user's Home folder because it was thought to be a temporary folder.

According to a report by the DEV UA website, a prominent Reddit web board user called u / Ecstatic-Big5126 asked the intelligent AI assistant on the Claude Opus 5 model to make a Routine Backup on his system. As a result, the AI assistant misunderstood the Command Line because the model was running on the Windows operating system through an interface similar to the UNIX operating system, leading to the AI's Path C: Usersharih. The Home folder of the user came to / c / Users / harih /, which the AI viewed as a temporary folder that was unsuccessfully backed up. The AI decided to delete the folder with the "rm -rf" command, until the folder was deleted.

The u / Ecstatic-Big5126 also says that when the Claude Opus 5 malfunctions, instead of making a long apology to the user or offering a solution, the AI simply responds briefly: Sorry, typo, so that the user feels that this is the worst bit of his developer's life.

This news may be a reminder of how intelligent the large-scale AI (LLM or Large Language Model) is today, it cannot be trusted to do anything without human authentication.
