I recently spent a magical long weekend there, and I’m excited to share how you can tick off your Bucharest bucket list and truly explore this vibrant capital! Day 1: Old Town Charm & Hidden Passages Start your Bucharest adventure soaking in the atmosphere of the Old Town. I loved wandering through the cobblestone streets, discovering quaint cafes and artisan shops. A must-see is Pasajul Macca-Vilacrosse, also known as the famous Umbrella Street. This stunning yellow-glass covered passage is absolutely Instagram-worthy, and it’s lined with shisha bars and cafes. Grab a coffee and simply watch the world go by. Afterward, take a leisurely stroll down Calea Victoriei. This iconic boulevard is a feast for the eyes, showcasing a mix of grand architecture and modern boutiques. This is where I stumbled upon some incredible luxury thrift finds – keep your eyes peeled, as Bucharest has some fantastic vintage spots if you know where to look! Don't forget to pop into some of the stunning bookstores; the architecture alone is worth the visit. Day 2: Relaxation & Grand Experiences After all that exploring, a bit of rejuvenation is in order! My absolute favorite discovery was Therme Spa. Imagine palm trees, warm pools, and incredible saunas – it’s a tropical paradise just outside the city. It’s the perfect place to unwind and recharge, whether you’re looking for a relaxing soak or an invigorating sauna experience. It truly felt like a mini-vacation within my vacation. In the evening, if you’re up for it, immerse yourself in Bucharest’s nightlife. The city boasts the largest bar in Europe, a truly unique experience. The energy is infectious, and it’s a great way to see another side of Bucharest’s vibrant culture. Day 3: Adrenaline & Departure For those seeking a bit of an adrenaline rush, you absolutely have to try the sharpshooting experience! I went to Calibru9, and it was such an unexpected and thrilling activity. Learning to shoot with different firearms under expert supervision was an incredible highlight and definitely a unique experience to brag about. It's perfectly safe and an unforgettable way to challenge yourself. Before heading to the airport, I recommend revisiting a favorite spot or grabbing some last-minute souvenirs. Bucharest offers so many fun activities, and you'll find yourself wishing you had even more time. Getting Around & Local Tips: Bucharest is a very walkable city, especially the Old Town and Calea Victoriei areas. For longer distances, the metro is efficient and affordable. Don't be afraid to try local dishes – the food scene is amazing! From hearty stews to delicious pastries, your taste buds are in for a treat. This 72-hour itinerary barely scratches the surface, but it's a fantastic way to get a taste of what makes Bucharest such a special destination. Enjoy your trip!
