Piano skirt!

It’s a fantastic way to visualize the pleating and key placement, especially when working with a complex pattern like the piano keys. Now, for the 'Process' part! This is where the magic happens. I started by cutting out long strips of black and white fabric for the 'keys.' Make sure they're consistent! Then, it's all about carefully piecing them together to form the piano key pattern. This requires patience, but seeing the pattern emerge is incredibly satisfying. Once your 'keyboard' fabric is ready, you'll move on to creating the pleats. There are different types – box pleats, knife pleats – and each gives a distinct look. I went for a classic knife pleat to give my piano pleated skirt a really elegant flow. Pinning and pressing each pleat meticulously before sewing is key to a crisp finish. Don't rush this step! After all the pleating, I attached the waistband.
