Sourdough discard chocolate chip cookies

Ingredients:

• 1 cup unsalted butter

• 1 cup light brown sugar, firmly packed

• ⅔ cup granulated sugar

• 2 large egg yolks (room temperature preferred)

• 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract

• ⅔ cup sourdough discard

• 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour

• 1 teaspoon baking powder

• 1 teaspoon baking soda

• ¾ teaspoon salt

• 1 ½ cups semisweet chocolate chips (or 6 oz chopped semisweet or dark chocolate bar)

Instructions:

1. Melt the butter and let it cool slightly.

2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Mix until smooth.

4. Add the egg yolks, vanilla extract, and sourdough discard to the wet ingredients, stirring until well incorporated.

5. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips or chopped chocolate.

6. Cover the dough and refrigerate for 1-2 hours.

7. Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
