Music student’s exam season
I don’t really have any written exams this term besides playing for juries and final arrangement projects! I’ve been practicing consistently for my friend’s clarinet jury, and it’s coming up real soon. I’ve been going to campus to rehearse with her, and I’ve been enjoying passing by the cherry blossom trees!
Besides spending time practicing, I’m also working on my arrangement project that replaces an exam, which means I’m back to using my midi keyboard~

Exam season can be a particularly stressful time for music students. Effective time management is crucial to balancing practice sessions, group collaborations, and coursework. It’s essential to create a rehearsal schedule that allows for focused practice while also incorporating breaks to prevent burnout. Spending time outdoors, such as in parks with blooming cherry blossoms, can serve as a refreshing mental reset. Nature has been shown to elevate mood and boost creativity, which can be invaluable during intensive study times. Moreover, working on arrange projects not only helps to reinforce musical concepts but also allows for personal expression. Using tools such as MIDI keyboards can enhance creativity by providing diverse sound explorations during arrangements. Embracing collaborative dynamics, like practicing with a classmate, also deepens learning and can make the process enjoyable. Overall, finding balance and fostering a supportive community can transform a potentially stressful exam season into a fulfilling experience.
