Graduation day tips I wish I knew earlier!
So I graduated last may and I wanted to share a few tips for girlies who are also graduating this year!
pick out your dress at least a week before!! I highly recommend going for one with heart neckline it looks SO GOOD on photos~
ask a friend or a family member to be your photographer ahead of time ;) and also, if you’re awkward like me xD you could search for grad photo poses (and memorize them)! these pose ideas saved me for real 🤞🏻
on the day: bring bobbi pins!! I actually didn’t bring some on that day and my hat kept sliding down…but I’m glad my friend have some extras so girl was saved!!
bring a small shoulder bag that you can hide under your regalia! unless your dress has pockets, you’d want a space to fit your lippies and your phone!
this one is coming from my friends - if you’re not doing your own hair, makeup or nails, do book your appointments early, because during grad season, the slots fill up super fast!

Graduation day is such a monumental occasion, filled with excitement, nerves, and countless photo opportunities! After experiencing it myself, I realized there's so much more to getting ready than just the dress and cap and gown. Building on some of those initial tips, let's dive deeper into making your graduation day truly unforgettable and stress-free. Beyond the Dress: Your Full Outfit & Comfort Strategy While picking out a beautiful dress is key (like that gorgeous pink dress I saw someone wear, or the recommended sweetheart neckline for photos), remember comfort is paramount. You'll be doing a lot of standing, walking, and possibly sitting for long periods. Consider comfortable yet stylish shoes that you can actually walk in. If you're set on heels, perhaps bring a pair of flats as a backup for after the ceremony. Also, think about accessories that complement your outfit without being too distracting under your regalia. A simple necklace or earrings can add a touch of sparkle. Lastly, don't forget undergarments! Seamless options are often best to avoid any lines showing through your dress, especially with flash photography. Mastering Your Graduation Photoshoot: More Than Just Poses Having a dedicated photographer, whether it's a friend with a good camera or a professional, is a game-changer. Beyond just looking up 'grad photo pose ideas', think about the settings. Scout your campus ahead of time! Are there iconic spots like the university building, a fountain, or a beautiful park setting that would make for stunning backdrops? Discuss these photoshoot locations with your photographer. Don't just focus on posed shots; ask them to capture candid moments with your family and friends. Make sure to get shots holding your diploma and a beautiful bouquet of flowers. Sometimes, the most cherished photos are the ones where you're genuinely laughing or celebrating. Remember to communicate any specific shots you want, like a close-up of your graduation cap and tassel. The Ultimate Graduation Day Survival Kit for Your Small Bag That small shoulder bag you hide under your black gown is your lifeline! While lippies and your phone are essentials, let's expand that survival kit. I wish I had packed a few extra things: a small packet of tissues (emotions run high!), a compact mirror for quick checks, a portable phone charger (you'll be taking and sharing a ton of photos and videos), some breath mints or gum, and a small snack like a granola bar to keep your energy up. And yes, those bobby pins are crucial for securing your graduation cap, but also throw in a few safety pins! They are lifesavers for unexpected wardrobe malfunctions. A small hand sanitizer is also a good idea. Having these essentials in your small white purse will make you feel prepared for anything the day throws at you. Pre-Graduation Week: The Unsung Heroes of a Smooth Day While booking hair, makeup, and nail appointments early is brilliant advice, don't forget other prep. Hydrate well and get plenty of sleep in the week leading up to your big day. A good skincare routine will help you glow naturally. If you're wearing new shoes, break them in! Practice walking in them so you're not stumbling across the stage. Lay out your entire outfit, including your cap and gown, days before. Check for any wrinkles, and make sure everything is clean and ready to go. This pre-planning reduces stress on the actual day, allowing you to fully enjoy every moment of your graduation ceremony.

Reading this makes me feel like it’s okay to move at my own pace, even if it sometimes feels like everyone else has it figured out already.
