The date that made me realise education matters

... Read moreFrom my experience, understanding someone’s dating preferences like education background early on can save a lot of heartache. Sometimes we get so caught up in chemistry that we overlook the importance of being upfront about deal breakers. I used to think that dating was all about connection and fun, but after that date, I realized that being clear and intentional matters much more. In my journey, I found that joining groups with shared values—like volunteering, running clubs, or niche dating apps—helps meet people who appreciate that same clarity. It’s less about trying to please everyone and more about finding those who won’t leave you guessing. If you feel like "dating isn’t for me," it might be because you haven’t yet experienced this intentional approach. Recognizing your own deal breakers and communicating them honestly can make dating feel less like a gamble and more like a purposeful choice. It’s about respecting your time and emotions, and also the other person's. So don’t be discouraged if your experiences haven’t been perfect. Sometimes the lesson is in learning what matters most to you and finding spaces where that’s valued. Education, background, values—they all play roles, but clarity is key. I’ve learned to prioritize that above all, and dating has felt lighter and more genuine ever since.
