An “omg thank you” vs a “as he should” partner
Praying for a “omg thank you” partner instead of a “as he should” one in 2026 #cmb #CoffeeMeetsBagel #DateRealWithCmb #dating #relationship
From my own experience, the difference between feeling valued and simply being expected to give effort is huge in any relationship. When your partner says "omg thank you," it signals genuine appreciation that goes beyond routine or obligation. It makes all the difference in feeling emotionally safe and motivated to continue investing in the relationship. In many romantic dynamics, especially from a guy's perspective, the pressure to consistently chase, plan, and lead can be exhausting if the effort goes unnoticed or unappreciated. Appreciation isn’t about praise or flattery; it’s about recognition. When your actions are acknowledged with sincere gratitude, it creates a positive cycle of encouragement and trust. I’ve found that dating environments promoting intentionality, such as platforms like CoffeeMeetsBagel or social volunteer groups, foster this culture of appreciation naturally. People in these spaces are more mindful of showing value and respect because it’s part of the environment’s ethos, eliminating the need to repeatedly request validation. Moreover, understanding the difference between standards and entitlement is crucial. Wanting to feel appreciated does not mean demanding the bare minimum, but rather that your consistent efforts are noticed and not taken for granted. This awareness can lead to healthier, more fulfilling relationships where both partners feel safe to show up authentically. In summary, the key takeaway is to seek relationships where gratitude is expressed regularly. This kind of dynamic not only deepens connection but also sustains relationship efforts by making both people feel truly seen and valued.

I think the "as he should" is just an online thing lah. I've never seen a girl actually channel that irl. And I also agree with the "as he should" movement because let's face it, most guys are much lower effort than girls (i DON'T mean money wise, I am a huge believer in 50/50 financially, or even spoiling your bf), and if you look at a lot of long term couples or marriages (or even short term 😭) guys are praised for doing the bare minimum... And we're not even talking about parenting. So it helps for girls to know what they're worth. However on a human face to face level I'm sure all girls are pretty expressive and grateful, in fact SG girls in particular are conditioned to be super sweet, so I think thinking "as you should" girls are a thing IRL is a bit chronically online
