Not Every Matcha Hits… My Honest Review 🍋🍵

Stopped by Malou Coffee in Brentwood because everyone’s been talking about it, super cute, clean aesthetic, and honestly such a nice space to chill or work ☕✨

I ordered the Matcha Yuzu Tokyo, but it just wasn’t it for me. It was really bitter and I couldn’t taste the yuzu at all. The other drinks on the menu looked amazing though, so I’ll definitely give this place another try 👏

If you’ve been what should I order next time? 👀👇

... Read moreBeyond my specific drink experience, I really want to dive deeper into why Malou Coffee in Brentwood caught my eye. The moment you arrive, the exterior of the cafe is so inviting, with a modern and clean design that makes it stand out among other fantastic coffee shop Brentwood options. It truly feels like a chic urban oasis, promising a relaxed, stylish escape. Stepping inside, the interior continues this theme – it’s bright, spacious, and impeccably clean, making it an ideal spot to relax, meet friends, or even get some work done quietly. I particularly admired the thoughtful details, like the wooden shelves neatly displaying a selection of packaged goods, including their distinct coffee bags in crisp white, green, and black. The whole setup exudes a calm, sophisticated vibe that I instantly appreciated; it makes you want to linger. My quest for the perfect matcha led me to the Matcha Yuzu Tokyo, which, as I mentioned, wasn't quite my cup of tea (or matcha!). It was unexpectedly bitter, and I couldn't really pick up on the delicate yuzu notes, which was a shame given how refreshing that combination should be. However, observing the bustling minimalist and modern counter area, I saw a barista skillfully preparing various beverages, and noticed other intriguing green drinks with ice and what looked like jelly on the counter. This makes me optimistic about finding a Malou matcha option that truly hits the spot. I’m quite a matcha obsessed person, always on the lookout for a truly unique matcha experience – one that balances earthiness with a hint of natural sweetness, without any harsh bitterness. Sometimes, bitterness can come from the quality of the matcha powder itself or the water temperature used in preparation. I'm genuinely curious to explore their full matcha menu next time to see if a simpler matcha latte or another specialty might be more to my liking. For those planning a visit to this charming cafe Malou, I'd definitely recommend taking advantage of their lovely outdoor tables if the weather permits – it's a great spot to people-watch and enjoy the Brentwood atmosphere. If you’re unsure about what to order, especially given my specific matcha experience, don't hesitate to ask the friendly staff for their recommendations. They might guide you to a hidden gem, perhaps one of their delicious-looking pastries or another Malou tea blend that perfectly suits your taste. Despite my initial drink not being a perfect fit, the overall positive ambiance, the commitment to aesthetic, and the potential for other great drinks mean I'll absolutely be giving Malou Coffee another try. It’s a beautiful space that deserves a second chance to impress my taste buds and become a regular stop!
