best tips for engagement ring shopping!💍💍
About 8 months before we got engaged, my fiance and I went engagement ring shopping together! Engagement rings can be a big purchase, so we wanted to do this with each other.
Here are some of my best tips!
1. LEARN ALL ABOUT THE 4 C’s! Carat, Cut, Color and Clarity.
- Carat = size.
- Cut affects how brilliantly the diamond shines. You can usually get the BEST cut and it's not significantly more $$$
- Color = how white your diamond is
- Clarity = how many imperfections there are in your diamond (lil black flakes)
2. SET A BUDGET TOGETHER
Before we went ring shopping, my partner and I sat down and discussed what he would be comfortable spending on the ring. We agreed on a range and sent that to our jeweler!!
3. Go to a local jeweler
We initially went to Brilliant Earth.... but there are so many reviews online that show diamonds popping out of the settings :/ Our local jeweler did a fully custom ring and it was actually a BETTER PRICE!! My fiance said it was approximately 10% cheaper via our jeweler for the same diamond on Brilliant Earth (same specs).
4. Consider your wedding band!
Something our jeweler had me do is try out wedding bands to pair with the ring. While we didn't buy the wedding bands yet, it was great to see what the entire stack would look like before committing to a ring!
5. Get RING insurance!!
PLEASE please please make sure your fiance gets ring insurance. Ring insurance will literally cover things like theft, loss, and damage. Insure that beauty!!
