Bunny year redesign (KNY OC)
I feel I gotten better with my art from last year so I redesign Fuyuko bunny year. I will post Fuyuko dragon year soon too! But if you wondering I have drafts version lemon8 all ready just encase! Besides I have a lot more content that I haven’t released yet!
I remember looking back at my old KNY OC art and feeling like Fuyuko, my beloved character, deserved a fresh look that truly reflected my improved skills. That's why I embarked on this 'Bunny Year' redesign journey! It wasn't just about redrawing; it was about evolving her character visually and showcasing my own art improvement. My goal was to keep her essence while refining the details, especially her iconic bunny ears and the elegant blue kimono that's become her signature. I spent a lot of time on Procreate, experimenting with new techniques to make her design more dynamic and polished. One of the key things I focused on was capturing the unique 'Frozen Flower petals' motif I envisioned for her, making sure it blended seamlessly into her updated design. It's those small details that really bring a character to life and give them a distinct personality within the KNY universe. When redesigning an OC, it's not just about drawing better; it's about making them more expressive and dynamic. I often look at official character designs from Demon Slayer, even characters like Giyu or Obanai, not to copy, but to understand how their distinct features contribute to their overall presence and power. This helped me think critically about Fuyuko's silhouette, posture, and how her outfit would move. For Fuyuko, I really wanted to emphasize her gentle but resilient nature, which I tried to convey through her expression and the flow of her redesigned blue kimono, complete with her bunny ears that are just too cute! Finding inspiration is crucial for any KNY redesign project. I spent hours browsing Pinterest for KNY OC bases, various kimono patterns, and even pose references. It's amazing how a simple search for 'kny oc base pinterest' can open up a world of creative ideas and help spark that initial concept. Sometimes, seeing other fan KNY redesigns also fuels new ideas and motivates me to push my own boundaries. It's a great community to be a part of, where we can share and learn from each other's artistic journeys. The side-by-side comparison is always the most rewarding part. Seeing my 'Old art' from 2023 next to my 'New work' from 2024 truly highlights the progress I've made. It's not just about drawing cleaner lines, but understanding anatomy, color theory, and storytelling through design. If you're an artist thinking about revamping your own Demon Slayer OC, or even trying a Shimo redesign purely for practice, I highly recommend it! It's an incredible way to track your art improvement and push your creative boundaries. I'm already thinking about her 'Dragon Year' look, which will be a whole new challenge! Redesigning helps us evolve as artists and connect deeper with our characters. What kind of KNY redesign are you planning next?
