These days, all I do is…

These days all I do is… show up in a lot of different roles. And I’m blessed to be able to do it. Hair stylist. Snack dealer. Teacher. Content creator. House manager. Memory maker. And somewhere in between, an actual human with her own interests, dreams, and inner world that still needs tending too.

Motherhood has a way of expanding us. I used to think balance was about doing everything equally, but now I’m learning it’s more about honoring the season I’m in without losing the parts of me that existed before “mama.” My husband has been such a gentle reminder of that lately, encouraging me to carve out more time to just be Micah, not only Mama.

So this year, I’m trying to create little pockets of space where I get to breathe and be myself again, not just the roles I love and have the opportunity to carry. The goal isn’t to do everything, it’s to not disappear in the process.

Here’s to finding our mode, the one that lets us show up well for them and ourselves.

... Read moreMotherhood is undoubtedly a transformative experience that brings immense joy and challenges. Over time, I've realized that the concept of balance isn't about equally dividing attention among all roles but about embracing the current season of life with grace and intention. From managing a busy household to pursuing creative projects and teaching moments, each role demands a part of me, yet it's vital to nurture the inner self that predates motherhood. In practice, this means intentionally carving out small pockets of time dedicated solely to personal interests or simply breathing without any external demands. Whether it's reading a few pages of a cherished book, enjoying a quiet cup of coffee, or setting aside moments for reflection, these seemingly minor acts have profound effects on mental well-being and fulfillment. Another key insight has been the support from loved ones, especially partners, who remind us that being 'more than mom' is healthy and necessary. Having their encouragement can foster confidence to seek and protect that personal space amidst a whirlwind of responsibilities. For fellow moms navigating this multifaceted journey, remember that honoring your pre-motherhood identity while embracing new roles doesn't signify imbalance; it's a harmonious expansion. By acknowledging the importance of self-care and identity preservation, we create enriched experiences not only for ourselves but for our families as well. Ultimately, the goal isn't perfection but presence—showing up authentically in every role without losing sight of who we are beyond the title of 'Mama.'
