I’m unwell. I feel like I blinked…
I always knew it. I watched it happen with my godchildren…one minute they were babies, and now they’re teenagers. I saw time move fast from the outside looking in, so I thought I understood.
But seeing it happen with my own kids? That hits differently.
One moment they were newborn and infants, and now they’re three and four, having conversations with one another, running ahead, growing into themselves right in front of me. Even knowing how fast time moves, it still feels surreal. Like I blinked and this season shifted.
So I’m holding onto the moments when I can. Letting the hugs linger. Soaking in the laughter. Being more present, even when life is busy, because I know how quickly these days will become memories.
We’re incredibly blessed and deeply grateful for this life and for the honor of being their parents. Time may fly, but I’m choosing to stay right here in it while I can.

When someone tells you time flies, it might seem like just a cliché, but living through those rapid transitions with your own children transforms that phrase into a profound reality. Watching tiny newborns grow into lively toddlers almost overnight can be both beautiful and bittersweet. From my own experience, it's during the toddler years and preschool life that you genuinely grasp how fast life moves. One way I’ve learned to cope with this swift passage of time is by prioritizing presence over productivity. Even when the day feels hectic, taking a few moments to engage deeply—whether it’s listening intently to their stories, joining in their laughter, or simply holding them close—creates lasting memories that both you and your children will cherish. Interestingly, these toddler years are pivotal for emotional growth, as children start expressing their personalities and forming bonds with siblings and friends. Conversations turn from babbles to meaningful exchanges, making every word and interaction feel special. I found that capturing these moments, whether through photos or journaling, helps me celebrate the small yet significant changes that signify their growth. Parenting is a balance of embracing the fleeting nature of childhood and acknowledging the joy and responsibility that comes with guiding little ones through these formative years. True gratitude emerges when you recognize the privilege of witnessing their journey firsthand—even as time seems to blur and speed by like a blink. So if you’re feeling like time is slipping away too quickly, remember: it’s okay to slow down and savor the now. The toddler years are challenging, but they are also filled with unmatched wonder and love. By being fully present, you gift your children the greatest treasure—a parent’s wholehearted attention during the days that become tomorrow’s treasured memories.
