จากประสบการณ์ตรงที่เคยใช้สเปรย์ปรับอากาศในห้องน้ำที่บ้าน ตอนแรกก็รู้สึกว่าเหมือนจะช่วยได้บ้าง แต่พอใช้ไปสักพัก กลิ่นเหม็นเหมือนเดิมกลับยังคงอยู่ โดยเฉพาะในช่วงฤดูฝนที่ความชื้นสูงมาก ทำให้กลิ่นเหม็นน้ำเน่าจากท่อน้ำและบ่อบำบัดเด่นชัดขึ้นมาก ผมจึงเริ่มศึกษาและสังเกตปัญหาอย่างละเอียด พบว่า สเปรย์ปรับอากาศเป็นเพียงการปกปิดกลิ่นเหม็นชั่วคราว โดยการใช้กลิ่นน้ำหอมเข้าไปแย่งพื้นที่ในจมูกเรา ทำให้รู้สึกเพียงชั่วคราวว่าไม่มีกลิ่น แต่กลิ่นเหม็นจากแอมโมเนียและก๊าซไข่เน่ายังคงสะสมและนำไปสู่ปัญหาที่ใหญ่ขึ้นอย่างการกัดกร่อนท่อและอุปกรณ์ต่างๆ ในห้องน้ำ สำหรับใครที่เรียกใช้บริการหรือแก้ไขปัญหาด้วยสเปรย์เพียงอย่างเดียว ผมแนะนำให้ลองเล็งเห็นปัญหาเบื้องต้น เช่น การตรวจสอบซีลยางฐานโถส้วม ว่ามีการรั่วซึมหรือเสื่อมสภาพหรือไม่ ท่อระบายอากาศตันไหม หรือระบบบำบัดน้ำเสียทำงานปกติหรือเปล่า นอกจากนี้ การนำจุลินทรีย์ที่ช่วยย่อยสลายของเสียไปใช้ในบ่อบำบัดน้ำเสีย ถือเป็นตัวช่วยแก้ไขกลิ่นเหม็นได้อย่างยั่งยืน โดยจุลินทรีย์จะช่วยลดสารอินทรีย์ที่เป็นสาเหตุของกลิ่นเหม็น และยังช่วยลดประสิทธิภาพการกัดกร่อนของก๊าซที่มีฤทธิ์เป็นกรดได้ดีขึ้น ดังนั้นจึงไม่ควรพึ่งพาสเปรย์ปรับอากาศแค่เพียงอย่างเดียว เพราะความหอมของสเปรย์ไม่ใช่ตัวชี้วัดความสะอาดและสุขอนามัยที่แท้จริงของห้องน้ำ ห้องน้ำที่ถูกจัดการและดูแลอย่างถูกต้องควรจะไร้กลิ่นไม่พึงประสงค์อย่างถาวร ขอแนะนำให้ตรวจสอบและดูแลระบบระบายน้ำและบ่อบำบัดอย่างสม่ำเสมอ เพื่อสุขภาพที่ดีและสภาพแวดล้อมที่น่าอยู่
