Is this fried chicken better than Wingstop? 🤔🍗

We visited Sides at WEAVE, Resorts World Sentosa, and while getting there isn't the most convenient, the food definitely exceeded our expectations.

🍗 Multiplayer Meal (2–3 Pax) – $32.90

🧅 Crispy Onion Rings

Made with thick slices of real onion and fried until crispy, these had a satisfying crunch while staying sweet and juicy inside.

🥣 Chipotle & Buttermilk Ranch Dips 🏆

The unexpected MVP of the meal. These dips paired incredibly well with almost everything on the platter and elevated every bite.

🍗 Chicken Tenders, Boneless Bites & Classic Wings (Sticky Hot Honey)

We chose the Sticky Hot Honey flavour for all three, and it didn't disappoint. The sweet honey glaze blended beautifully with the savoury seasoning, balancing the richness of the fried chicken without being overpowering. Every piece was crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and although it's rated on the spicier end of the menu, we found the heat very manageable for Singaporean taste buds.

🧀 Mac & Cheese

The macaroni was cooked well, but the cheese sauce was slightly watered down and could have been more flavourful.

🍟 Waffle Fries

Simple, crispy and fluffy, everything you'd expect from good waffle fries. Pair them with the dips and they're even better.

🍦 Chocolate Soft Serve ($4.50)

We got to try this as part of a promotion with our meal. It had a pleasant dark chocolate flavour, although there was a slight milk powder aftertaste. The texture melted quite quickly, so while it wasn't our favourite soft serve, it made for a nice way to end the meal.

🚆 Accessibility

Located at WEAVE, Resorts World Sentosa, you'll need to take the Sentosa Express from VivoCity before making your way over. It's a great stop if you're already in Sentosa, but the extra travel and transport cost make it less convenient than their other outlets.

Overall, we really enjoyed the food, especially the Sticky Hot Honey chicken and the Chipotle & Buttermilk Ranch dips. The Mac and Cheese was a bit bland and watery, hence, a full score for Tatse was not given. While we probably wouldn't make a special trip back to this Sentosa outlet because of its location, we would definitely be open to visiting one of their other branches instead.

Worth the trip? 🤔 Only if you're already in Sentosa.

... Read moreVisiting Sides at WEAVE in Resorts World Sentosa provides a unique fried chicken experience distinct from other popular chains like Wingstop. From my personal visit, I was genuinely impressed by how well the Sticky Hot Honey flavor complemented various chicken types, including tenders, boneless bites, and classic wings. The glaze was perfectly balanced—sweet with just a hint of heat, which enhanced the crispy coating without overwhelming the palate. One of the standout features that often gets overlooked in fried chicken meals is the quality of the dips, and at Sides, the Chipotle and Buttermilk Ranch dips truly elevate the meal. They paired wonderfully not just with the chicken but also with the waffle fries, adding layers of flavor and richness. Speaking of sides, the crispy onion rings were made from thick onion slices that retained a juicy sweetness inside while maintaining a satisfying crunch. Although the mac and cheese was somewhat underwhelming with a slightly watered-down cheese sauce, it offered a comforting, mild complement to the spicier elements on the platter. Accessibility can be a challenge as getting to WEAVE requires taking the Sentosa Express from VivoCity, which means extra time and cost. However, if you’re already exploring Sentosa, it makes for a worthwhile food stop. The atmosphere is casual and vibrant, giving it a sort of overseas fast-food vibe enhanced by British and American hip-hop music, which creates a lively dining mood. The price point is moderate—it may not be the cheapest option, but the quality and taste justify the cost for those seeking a flavorful chicken meal. Additionally, promotions such as a free soft serve with meal purchases and student discounts add value. Overall, if you’re debating between Wingstop and Sides, this spot is definitely worth trying, especially if you enjoy a good balance of sweet and spicy flavors with excellent dipping sauces. While it might not be convenient for a special trip just for the food, it’s a great option for visitors already at Resorts World Sentosa. Comparatively, Sides offers a fresh take on fried chicken with unique flavor profiles and quality sides that could easily satisfy Wingstop fans looking for something different.
