We stopped by Caffè Affogato at The Star Vista to try their Classic Affogato, and this simple combination surprised us more than we expected.

We went with the White Caramel Macadamia Gelato.

The magic really happens once you pour the espresso over the gelato.
The espresso was strong and bitter, while the gelato was creamy and sweet. Once combined, the bitterness of the coffee cut through the sweetness beautifully, creating a really nice balance between the two.
What surprised us most was how the espresso brought out even more of the macadamia flavour. The nuttiness became much more noticeable, while the caramel added just enough sweetness to balance the strong coffee flavour.
