It's truly one of the most unique and strategic Nen abilities in all of Hunter x Hunter, making him such a formidable foe. Understanding how his 'book' works is key to appreciating his genius! So, what exactly is Skill Hunter? In essence, it's Chrollo's specialized Nen ability that allows him to steal and use the Nen abilities of other people. He stores these stolen abilities in a particular conjured book called 'Bandit's Secret.' Imagine having an arsenal of powers at your fingertips, ready to be deployed at a moment's notice – that's Chrollo's advantage! But it's not as simple as just wishing for a power. There are very specific and strict conditions that Chrollo Lucilfer must meet to successfully steal an ability. First, he must witness the target's ability in action with his own eyes. Second, he has to ask questions about the ability, and the victim must answer them. Third, the victim needs to touch the cover of Bandit's Secret with their palm. And finally, all of these steps must be completed within an hour! If he fails any of these conditions, the theft won't occur. Once stolen, the original user loses their ability, and Chrollo gains it. The catch? To use a stolen ability, he has to conjure 'Bandit's Secret' and turn to the page of the desired skill, keeping the book open with one hand. This is a significant limitation, as it essentially leaves him fighting with only one free hand, making close combat challenging unless he develops strategies around it. The sheer versatility this ability offers Chrollo is astounding. He's been shown to possess a wide array of powers, from manipulating objects with Indoor Fish to conjuring a Fun Fun Cloth to shrink things, and even the frightening Sun and Moon ability for explosive tags. He's not just a thief; he's a master strategist who combines these stolen skills in unexpected ways, adapting to any opponent or situation. It's what makes every fight he's in so unpredictable and exciting! What I find particularly 'Very interesting' about Skill Hunter is that it's not just about raw power, but about intellect and preparation. Chrollo needs to understand each ability's mechanics and limitations perfectly to wield them effectively. It's a testament to his intelligence and his role as the leader of the Phantom Troupe. Thinking about all the possibilities his unique set of powers brings to the Hunter x Hunter universe always leaves me wanting more! His battles are truly a masterclass in Nen application. It makes you wonder what other incredible powers he might have acquired over the 'couple chapter later' we haven't seen yet! It's clear that Chrollo Lucilfer is a character whose abilities will keep us talking for a long time.
