Reissue G1 Prowl
Wow, finally got my hands on the G1 Prowl reissue, and I couldn't wait to share my thoughts! For any classic Transformers fan, Prowl is an absolute icon, and getting a chance to revisit this mold is always a treat. He was one of the earliest figures released in the original series, making him a cornerstone of any G1 collection. First off, the vehicle mode: Prowl transforms into that sleek Datsun Z(280ZX) police car, and it just looks fantastic. The lines are sharp, and it truly captures the essence of the original. The details on the windshield and hood are pretty spot-on, though I did notice some subtle changes, especially with the decals. They're definitely altered compared to what some purists might remember from the first series of releases. While they still look good and are clearly Prowl, the slight variations might be a point of discussion for those who prioritize exact replication of the vintage toy. It's not a deal-breaker for me, but it's worth noting for collectors who are very particular about screen accuracy or original toy fidelity. The headlights, for whatever reason, always stood out on the original, and they're replicated well here, maintaining that classic look. Transforming Prowl is always a nostalgic journey. It’s a classic G1 transformation, straightforward yet satisfying. One thing I did observe, and this might align with some of the 'very weak' mentions I've heard from others, is that some of the joints or connection points can feel a little less robust than you might hope. For instance, getting the windshield and hood to perfectly meet and lock into place in vehicle mode requires a bit of finesse – it's not a super tight fit, but it holds. It's not fragile by any means, but it’s something to be mindful of during handling, particularly with repeated transformations. The way the head flips out and the arms articulate is still brilliant design, showcasing why these early Transformers were so beloved for their ingenuity. This specific mold was widely developed and used, so it has a familiar feel. The robot mode is classic Prowl – authoritative and ready for action. His shoulder cannons are present, and the overall sculpt is faithful. The reissue does a great job of bringing that vintage feel back. The color scheme is vibrant, and he truly stands out among other Autobots. Prowl's role as the Autobot strategist in the cartoon always made him a fascinating character, and this figure perfectly embodies that intellectual, tactical presence. If you're a fan of the original release from the 80s, this reissue will definitely hit you with a wave of nostalgia. It's great to see these characters made available again to a new generation of collectors or for those of us wanting to replace well-loved (or lost!) originals. Overall, my experience with the G1 Prowl reissue has been overwhelmingly positive. Despite the minor points about the altered decals and some slightly 'weak' feeling joints, the joy of having this Autobot strategist in my collection again is immense. He’s a fantastic display piece in both modes, whether you prefer him as the sleek Datsun Z(280ZX) or in his heroic robot form, and a worthy addition for anyone collecting G1 reissues. If you're on the fence, I’d say go for it! It's a piece of Transformers history you can proudly own, bringing back all those childhood memories. Don't miss out on adding this iconic character to your display!
