How could I forget…

Recently I’ve been doing a lot of reflection & examining my beliefs.

When did I start feeling I had to straighten my hair for it to be pretty? In elementary school I loved it long & curly.

When did I start feeling like my nose was too big? I used to love the way the freckles dot it & squinted it in the mirror.

When did I start hating every little blemish? I remember the excitement I felt when I got my first pimple 😂.

When did I start looking at myself with anything but love?

I’m realizing a lot of the insecurities & negative beliefs I’ve internalized aren’t even mine! They’re comments people who don’t matter have said in the past. They’re Eurocentric beauty norms I’ve absorbed in media. They’re lies I ingested for so long they felt like truth.

Learning to love myself like i did as a child. Starting with my curls! ✨
