PG RX-78-2 ver G3

As a passionate Gunpla builder, there's nothing quite like the satisfaction of taking a kit and making it truly your own. For this particular Perfect Grade RX-78-2 Gundam, I really wanted to push my skills and create something distinct. Instead of sticking with the traditional colors, I envisioned a more subdued yet striking look, settling on a custom white and gray color scheme. It wasn't just about picking paint; I spent time custom mixing various shades to get the exact tones I wanted for the armor, aiming for a subtle contrast that would still highlight the intricate details of the Perfect Grade model. The painting process itself is always a journey. I started with a good primer to ensure a smooth canvas, then applied several thin coats of my custom-mixed white and gray paints. Patience is key, especially with a large model like the RX-78-2, to avoid any brush strokes or unevenness. Once the main colors were down, I moved onto the finer details and weathering, which truly brings the model to life. Adding custom decals was another crucial step in personalizing this build. I incorporated 'EFSF' (Earth Federation Space Force) markings and the '103' unit designation to give it a unique, battle-hardened identity. Water-slide decals, while sometimes challenging to apply, offer a superior, painted-on look compared to stickers. Using a good decal setting solution helped them conform perfectly to the curves of the armor, making them blend seamlessly. These small touches make a huge difference in the overall presentation. Of course, a Gundam isn't complete without its iconic weaponry. I meticulously painted the rifle and shield to match the new white and gray aesthetic, ensuring a cohesive look. One of my favorite details is how the glowing yellow eyes turned out – they add so much character and make the Gundam feel almost alive. And to truly capture that dynamic action pose, I absolutely love the effect of the glowing red beam saber. It adds an incredible sense of movement and power, making the display pop. This build truly represents my vision for a customized Perfect Grade RX-78-2 Gundam, and I'm thrilled with the result!
