Just be prepared for them to gather around you quickly once they smell the crackers! A little bow from you, and sometimes they'll even bow back before taking a cracker. It truly feels like interacting with wild, yet incredibly polite, creatures. Remember to be gentle and respectful; they are wild animals, after all. Keep your bags zipped up, as they're not shy about trying to sniff out snacks! Beyond the deer, Nara Park itself is massive and serves as the foreground for some of Japan's most iconic historical sites. It’s why it’s consistently ranked among the famous places in Nara. Right within the park grounds, you'll find the stunning Todai-ji Temple, home to one of Japan's largest bronze Buddha statues, the Daibutsu. Walking into that massive wooden hall, the largest of its kind in the world, and seeing the colossal Buddha is an awe-inspiring experience that truly makes you feel connected to Japan's ancient past. Don't miss the pillar with a hole the size of the Buddha's nostril – legend says if you can squeeze through, you'll gain enlightenment!
