... Read moreYou know, when I first started traveling, I never really kept track of how many states I'd visited. It was more about the experience! But after seeing a few, I got hooked on the idea of exploring more of the USA. My goal is to see every single one eventually, and it's been so much fun marking them off on my own little US map! Out of the 10 states I've explored so far, Alabama truly captured my heart. It's funny because it wasn't a state I expected to fall in love with, but the vibrant culture, delicious food, and incredible hospitality just blew me away. From the historic streets of Montgomery to the beautiful Gulf Shores beaches, there's so much more to Alabama than meets the eye. The people are genuinely warm and welcoming, and the food scene, especially the BBQ, is out of this world. I still dream about some of the meals I had there! Plus, being a big college football fan, the 'Roll Tide' spirit is contagious and just added to the whole experience. It definitely stands out as my favorite, and I can't wait to go back. Beyond Alabama, my travels have taken me to some amazing places. I've soaked up the sun in Florida, explored the vast landscapes of Texas, and crisscrossed through other gems in the Southeast. Each state has its own unique charm! In Florida, it was all about the stunning beaches and the lively atmosphere – perfect for a quick getaway. Texas surprised me with its incredible diversity, from bustling cities to quiet, starry nights in the countryside. The Southern states, in general, offer such a rich blend of history, music, and fantastic food that makes every road trip memorable. If you're thinking about starting your own US travel adventure, here are a few tips I've picked up along the way: Start Small & Close to Home: You don't have to cross the entire country to begin. Explore neighboring states first to get a feel for regional differences. Beyond the Tourist Traps: While popular spots are great, try to find local gems. Ask locals for recommendations – that's how I discovered some of my favorite Alabama spots! Document Your Journey: Whether it's a physical US map that you highlight, a journal, or even just photos, keeping track makes the journey even more rewarding. It's so satisfying to look back and see how much ground you've covered, like seeing my 10 states represent 20% of the US! Embrace the Unexpected: Some of my best memories came from unplanned detours or discovering something totally new. Be open to changing your plans! Budget Smart: Traveling across states can add up. Look for affordable accommodations, pack snacks, and consider road-tripping to save on flights. It's an amazing feeling to reflect on all the different cultures, landscapes, and experiences I've encountered by visiting these 10 states. Every trip has left me with incredible memories and a deeper appreciation for this country. I'm already planning my next adventure to add more highlights to my US map! What states have you been to, and which one is your absolute favorite? I'd love to hear your stories!
