3 products I’m using on my belly to increase collagen and firm skin postpartum.

1. Retinol body cream- yes I feel comfortable using this while BF. retinol/retinoids are hands down one of the best skincare products for increasing collagen due to increasing cell turnover. I love ones by @cocokind and @Naturium

2. Peptide creams with centella asiatica - helps improve skin elasticity and helps improve stretch marks. Bonus these have hyaluronic acid in them to plump and hydrate skin. Love @Momcozy and @8 Sheep Organics for this! I use the 8sheep organic in pregnancy too

3. Silicone scar sheets or scar gel- using the one by @nemah and sheets by @Shop Frida Mom + Baby (you don’t need both but I’m extra lol)

Read moreHaving personally navigated the postpartum skincare journey, I can attest to how challenging it can be to find effective and safe products that actually help firm the skin and reduce the appearance of stretch marks. What really made a difference for me was incorporating products specifically aimed at increasing collagen and improving skin elasticity, just as described here. Retinol body creams were a game-changer, especially since I was able to use them safely while breastfeeding. The key benefit is their ability to speed up cell turnover, which stimulates collagen production and improves overall skin texture. Brands like Cocokind and Naturium stood out just like in this article because they offer gentle but effective formulations. My favorite skincare step was using peptide creams that include centella asiatica and hyaluronic acid. Centella asiatica has been shown to promote wound healing and strengthen skin fibers, while hyaluronic acid adds essential hydration and plumps up the skin. This combo helped not only with firming but also visibly improving stretch marks over several weeks. I switched to these creams during pregnancy and postpartum as a preventative and restorative measure. Lastly, silicone scar sheets and gels were a simple yet incredibly effective addition. Silicone's sealing effect keeps the skin hydrated and protects it, which supports the remodeling of skin and reduces scar and stretch mark appearance. Although I didn’t use both sheets and gel simultaneously, it’s nice to know the option is available depending on your preference and convenience. Overall, I advise anyone dealing with postpartum skin changes to be patient and consistent with these targeted treatments. It’s important to follow directions carefully and combine them with gentle skincare habits, like moisturizing regularly and protecting your skin from sun exposure. This routine not only helped me regain confidence in my postpartum body but also reminded me that realistic expectations and self-care are key during this transformative time.
