Genshin Impact: YanfeiTrap

Recently, I decided to dive into the Yanfei banner, hoping to snag this amazing Pyro catalyst user. I'd heard whispers about it being a 'YanfeiTrap' for some, and I really wanted to see what my own luck would bring. My personal experience started with a mix of anticipation and Fates saved up. Seeing 'Probability increased!' for Yanfei as a featured 4-star was definitely a pull factor. I knew the basic rules: 'Every 10 wishes is guaranteed to include at least one 4-star or higher item.' This always gives a little comfort, right? But the real goal was Yanfei, and maybe, just maybe, a surprise 5-star. On this banner, I remember Zhongli was also a featured 5-star character with the 'Gentry of Hermitage' wish, which made the stakes even higher. You're always hoping for the character you want, but sometimes the game has other plans! I started pulling, and the immediate thought was, 'Will I get her quickly, or will I have to go deep into pity?' It's always a gamble, and that's the nature of these '5-star event-exclusive characters' banners. I ended up getting a couple of other 4-stars before Yanfei finally decided to grace my account. It felt like an eternity, but when she did appear, the relief was immense! It's that feeling of satisfaction after all the suspense. I've definitely had banners where I've gone to hard pity for a specific 4-star, and it can be a real test of patience and Primogem reserves. So, was it a 'YanfeiTrap' for me? Not entirely, but I can totally see why some players might feel that way. Sometimes you're just after that specific 4-star, but the game keeps throwing you other characters or weapons. It’s all part of the gacha mechanic, and while the 'Probability increased!' for featured characters helps, it doesn't guarantee instant success. Many times, you might end up with a 5-star you weren't actively wishing for (or even losing your 50/50!), all while trying to get a particular 4-star. That’s the real trap for some! For anyone else planning their pulls on future Character Event Wish banners, here’s my advice from experience: always check the details carefully. Know who the featured 4-stars are, understand the pity system for 5-star event-exclusive characters, and set a budget for yourself. Don't chase a 4-star if you absolutely don't want the featured 5-star. Sometimes, it’s better to save your Primogems for a banner where both the 4-stars and 5-stars align with your needs.
