Week 8 🏋🏽♀️
Friends, we love authenticity, right? With a little transparency?
This week wasn’t my best week at all. I only was able to make my way to the gym today. Tuesday marked the 13th year of my brother’s death and it hit me and my family a bit harder this year.
This week was very hard to do simple things such as getting out of the bed to fix something to eat, doing my homework, or simply interacting with people through text.
But, today I felt a bit better. I made it out of the house and to the gym! I worked on upper body, doing lat pull downs, chest presses, and ending with core. I feel good!
Depression is hard! I’ve been battling depression since a toddler after losing my dad at 3. I have been seeing therapists since I was about 4 years old. I was on medication during middle school and as a young adult, but have since been able to get through my days with natural remedies and spiritual healing.
If you suffer from depression, please try not to. I know it can be very hard, but find at least 1 person you feel comfortable with that cares about you and wants to put in the work to help you get through it. Or, consider the mental health crises hotline. You will remain anonymous and they will cry with you, laugh with you, and most importantly, encourage you through this battle (505-277-3013). I hope this helps someone 💚

Navigating through depression can be an exhausting journey. It's essential to remember that it's okay not to be okay; recognizing your emotions is a crucial step in healing. Regular physical activity, such as going to the gym, can significantly enhance your mental well-being by releasing endorphins, the body's natural mood elevators. Routine workouts, like upper body exercises including lat pull downs and chest presses, can not only build physical strength but also foster improved self-esteem. In addition, seeking professional help through therapy can provide the necessary tools and coping mechanisms to manage emotional struggles. It's vital to find a trusted friend or therapist who can understand your experiences and validate your feelings. Various resources, including mental health hotlines, are available for support, offering anonymity and encouragement to those in distress. Remember, you are not alone in this journey; many individuals fight similar battles every day. By sharing experiences, we build a compassionate community, inspiring one another on this path to recovery.
