Professor pissing me off
So in my art class for the past 2 weeks i’ve been feeling pissed off at my Professor, because I noticed he treats me very differently than my other classmates.
the first week I noticed are certain comments he says in class.
He would say words like “litt, griddy, fo-sho, slay” he is a white man, nothing wrong with that, and I find it funny at first but he does it all the time, and as he continues and as I listen he kinda does it with a accent, like how a black person would say it. I’m not trying o say he impersonating or whatnot but that’s just how it feels to me. I say those words sometimes too and other black ppl I’m around & the way he says it kinda sound like it.
2nd I apparently have been late 2 times and missed a class, with this I found out he reported my attendance to the schools Academic resource center, apparently it’s to help students to talk to advisors and help with classes from what I understand, and I didn’t even know something like this existed. I received emails from this department and after finding this out I asked the department what was said about me, it’s been a week now and I haven’t gotten a response, I’m thinking of just going to the office in person to see what this is about.
Something to keep in mind & something I noticed is that other students have been coming late, very late to class way later than me maybe an hour or 45 minutes(if I remember I was late about 30 mins when class started and he marked me late after doing roll call). So today a few students were late, after he called their names he says “Oh they are not here? I’ll wait a little longer for them to show before marking them.” Im like wtf, so I was late and missed a class and you report me but these students get a pass??
Today, marking week 3, I was on time, I was marked present, but some students where late and he did the same thing, waited in them and they came in after 45 mins class started and would mark them as present, not late or anything.
Oh another thing when coming into class, is that I noticed every single person who walks through the door he would greet happily say their names, say good morning good afternoon but when it’s me, he never responds with anything no hi, hello, no good morning nothing, he only interacts with me when he does roll call, and I respond, or when he comes around to check on students working. I don’t really talk much either but this does kinda bother me.
Something else I want to add is I’m really pissed off about the report he made. I found out today The report was made about around the beginning of March. We’re now near the ending of March and he hasn’t mentioned anything to me about the report nor has he spoke to me about my attendance or work progress, & I’m like ok if he ain’t gonna talk to me about it then I’ll act like I don’t know .
Anyway now i’m at a point where I really hate going to that class because of him he makes me mad & feel small about my art , like im dumb. I love what I’m doing in the class. It’s painting I love to paint. I love art, but having him as a teacher is straight ass. He ruins my day. But I need this class to pass so I’m just gonna do what i have to do for the grade.
In the end i’m thinking about reporting his behavior to the dean of my school or whoever is in charge of this type of thing because, I just don’t feel like he’s a great person, yes he can teach but I don’t really feel comfortable being there most days.
In the end am I over thinking things? Should I just continue to see what else he does? Is this something to report?
