When a dog gives birth to many puppies, it requires careful attention and special care to ensure the health and well-being of both the mother and her pups. Nutrition plays a vital role during this time. The mother dog needs a high-quality diet rich in protein, vitamins, and minerals to support milk production and her own recovery postpartum. Providing fresh water and frequent feeding is essential. Monitoring the puppies closely is important, especially for such a large group. Puppies should nurse regularly and gain weight steadily in their first few weeks. Keeping their environment warm, clean, and safe helps prevent illness and stress. For a litter with more puppies than usual, sometimes supplemental feeding might be necessary if the mother cannot produce enough milk for all. Consulting a veterinarian for guidance and checkups ensures that all puppies develop well. Socialization with the mother, siblings, and eventually humans helps puppies grow into friendly, well-adjusted dogs. Sharing moments and updates with a supportive community, as mentioned, brings joy and valuable advice during this special time.

This is our Pierz. He had 1 sister and 9 brothers Mama was a Visla and Daddy a Great Pyranese. Pierz weighed about 125 in this picture. He was the sweetest and gentlest little buddy. He left us too soon. Please have your big dogs checked for pancreas tumors.
