Ziploc Germination? It Works!
Tried that old school elementary science fair trick—but make it gardening style! I followed Chef YasmyneChanel 💕 advice and germinated cucumber seeds using the Ziploc bag method in my window.
I used two varieties:
Long Raceway Green Cucumbers
Spacemaster 80 Cucumbers
Let me tell y’all… these sprouted FAST❗️
The warmth and moisture in the sealed bags created the perfect little greenhouse effect.
Now it’s time to pot them up and let them shine in the garden!👩🏻🌾👩🏾🌾
This is such an easy and fun way to start seeds—perfect for beginners, small space growers, or anyone who loves a good DIY garden hack.

Germinating seeds can be a rewarding experience, especially for those who are new to gardening. The Ziploc bag method is an efficient and accessible way to kickstart plant growth right at home. This method works well with various seeds, but it’s particularly effective for cucumber varieties like Long Raceway Green and Spacemaster 80. To implement the Ziploc germination technique, start by choosing high-quality seeds. Then, dampen a paper towel and place the seeds on top before sealing them in the bag. The moisture helps create a mini-greenhouse effect, promoting faster germination. It’s crucial to keep the bag in a warm spot with indirect sunlight, as this simulates the optimal conditions for seed sprouting. Once the seeds have sprouted, which typically occurs within a few days, they can be carefully transferred to pots for further growth. This method is not only ideal for cucumbers but can be adapted for a variety of other seeds.
