Don’t let its small size fool you — it's a hardy survivor with a few hidden gems of benefits.

Benefits:

Some species have been used in herbal medicine for centuries.

Known for aiding digestion and mild detox effects when properly prepared.

The vibrant flowers (once bloomed) are pollinator-friendly!

How to Use:

(Important: Always properly ID and verify the exact species before using!)

Leaves can sometimes be used in teas for mild detox (only with correct edible varieties).

More often, it's admired for groundcover and natural pollination boosts in gardens.

Where It Grows Best:

Thrives in sandy or poor soil (hello, low maintenance!)

Prefers full sun and moderate watering

Grows wildly in zones 3–10

Even if you don't harvest it, it’s still great for attracting bees and butterflies to your garden!

... Read moreWild Morning Glory, also known as Bindweed, is quite versatile in the garden ecosystem. Its vibrant flowers not only attract pollinators such as bees and butterflies but also serve as an excellent groundcover plant due to its hardy nature. This wild plant thrives in various soil types, especially sandy or poorer soils, which makes it low maintenance and easy to cultivate. It prefers sunny environments, moderate watering, and performs well in USDA plant hardiness zones 3-10. When foraging, it’s critical to ensure proper identification of Wild Morning Glory, as certain species can be toxic. While its leaves are traditionally brewed into teas for their mild detoxifying properties, caution is essential as only specific edible varieties are safe for consumption. Historically, various types of Ipomoea have been utilized in herbal medicine, praised for their digestive health benefits. Additionally, by allowing this plant to grow in your garden, you contribute to local biodiversity, enriching the habitat for many pollinators. So next time you’re exploring your outdoor spaces, keep an eye out for this hardy plant that brings both beauty and ecological benefits to your surroundings.

That does not look like any of the wild morning glory that I've ever seen. 🤔 The leaves look different. 🤷‍♀️
