南无大愿地藏王菩萨,愿消三障诸烦恼,愿得 智慧真明了。
地狱不空,誓不成佛。心存善念,岁岁平安。 锡杖震幽冥,谛听辨善恶,一念慈悲,万事顺 遂。
Reflecting on the teachings of Kṣitigarbha Bodhisattva has profoundly influenced my personal spiritual journey. This revered bodhisattva’s vow to not achieve Buddhahood until all hells are emptied represents an incredible commitment to compassion and rescue from suffering. I have learned that embodying this spirit involves nurturing good intentions daily, which gradually dissolves worries and obstacles — often referred to as 'three barriers' or 'three poisons' in Buddhist philosophy. One practical practice I found helpful is mindful reflection on one’s thoughts and actions, as the text emphasizes discerning good from evil. Carrying a symbolic 'staff' (inspired by the bodhisattva’s rod that shakes the darkness) reminds me to stay vigilant against negative impulses and respond with kindness. This practice not only soothes the mind but also harmonizes relationships at home and work, creating a peaceful environment. In personal experience, 'heart filled with kindness' (心存善念) is a powerful mantra. It encourages me every day to wish safety and smoothness ('平安顺遂') for myself and those around me, fostering a positive atmosphere that supports collective well-being. Over time, this approach nurtures spiritual cultivation ('修行') by transforming compassion into action. Furthermore, honoring Kṣitigarbha enables me to maintain a sense of devotion and stability amid challenging times, trusting that compassionate intent will protect and guide my family. This path highlights that spiritual growth is not separate from daily living but deeply connected with how we guard the hearts of others and ourselves. Integrating these principles has made my journey richer and more meaningful, inviting peace and wisdom into my life step by step.
