I joined #4thewords and decided to change my hair. Well, now my character is bald. I guess I have to win more battles to earn hair.

I recently dove into the world of #4thewords, a super cool writing RPG, and I was so excited to create my character. I thought I had everything set, but then, bam! My character, who I affectionately named Geezenstack, ended up completely bald! Seriously, a Level 1 warrior with 68% XP, a humble 1 attack stat, and not a single strand of hair. It was such a surprise, and honestly, a bit hilarious at first. I mean, who expects their hero to start their epic journey looking like they just had a close encounter with a very enthusiastic barber?
I remembered seeing options for hair customization during character creation, but I guess I hadn't earned them yet. It turns out, in many games like #4thewords, character appearance items, including hair, are often tied to progression, achievements, or in-game currency. For Geezenstack, it looks like I'll need to win more battles and complete quests to earn enough Crystals and Coins to unlock those luscious locks. Right now, I'm sitting on 10 Crystals and 225 Coins – which, let me tell you, isn't quite enough for a full hair makeover, but I’m determined to get there!
This unexpected baldness has actually added a fun, quirky layer to my gameplay. Instead of just focusing on levelling up my basic stats or finding a new companion, I now have a distinct side quest: Operation: Hair Growth! It makes every battle feel more meaningful, every completed task a step closer to Geezenstack shedding her bald status. I'm imagining her, wielding her starting wooden weapon in slot 1, bravely fighting monsters, not just for XP, but for a new hairstyle! It's a unique motivator, turning a supposed 'lack' into an exciting goal.
For anyone else starting #4thewords or similar RPGs, don't be surprised if your character looks a bit basic at first. Many games use this as a clever way to encourage engagement and progression. It highlights the journey from a novice to a seasoned adventurer. Early on, your stats might be modest – like my 0 magic and 0 star stats – but every battle, every quest, brings you closer to unlocking new gear, powerful companions, and yes, even those coveted customization options like hair. It's all part of the game's reward system, making you feel a sense of accomplishment as your character evolves.
My plan now is to diligently grind through some early quests, fight as many monsters as possible, and really pay attention to what rewards are offered. I'm hoping to find some specific quests that grant customization tokens or a special in-game shop where I can trade my hard-earned Crystals for a fabulous new 'do. It’s a unique challenge, but I’m totally embracing my bald warrior. Who knows, maybe the bald look will become iconic for Geezenstack before she finally gets her hair! What unique character challenges have you faced in games?
