ChatGPT made me a Skincare Routine 🤖 🧼

I’ve been one of those girlies who for my whole life, I never really knew how to care for my skin properly.

I was a pimple picker, someone who wouldn’t face their face daily and when I did- I’d over do it with products and makeup…then forget to wash it off at night 😬

I now realize the errors of my ways at 31 😂 so I did what any young and confused person would do; I asked ChatGPT!

Here’s what I learned:

Step 1. Cleanse with a gentle cleanser, even double cleaning can be helpful at night after a long day of makeup and office air 💀

Product: La Roche Posay, $16 from CVS

Step 2. Use a retinol or retinoid cream 2-5 nights per week to retain moisture and reduce wrinkles.

Product: Good Molecules Retinol Cream, bought at Walmart for $7

Step 3: Use a lightweight moisturizer 🧴 to keep your skin hydrated throughout the night.

Product: CeraVe Oil Control Gel Cream, $14 (clearance) from Walmart

Optional Step: Use a chemical exfoliant 1-2 times a week, something with Lactic or Glycolic Acid. Recommend not using with the Retinoid serum until you’re used to both!

... Read moreWhen I first started following the skincare routine suggested by ChatGPT, I noticed a significant difference in how my oily skin felt and looked, especially by the end of a busy day. Cleansing twice at night with a gentle cleanser like La Roche-Posay effectively removed makeup and impurities without stripping my skin's natural moisture, which was a game-changer. One essential tip I picked up during this process is starting retinol usage slowly—beginning with 1-2 nights per week allows your skin to adjust without irritation. I personally found Good Molecules Retinol Cream from Walmart accessible and affordable, and it helped improve my skin texture while reducing fine lines over time. Moisturizing has always been daunting for oily skin, but using a lightweight, oil-control gel like CeraVe helped keep my skin hydrated without feeling greasy. The importance of hydration cannot be overstated, especially when using active ingredients like retinol and chemical exfoliants. Speaking of exfoliation, incorporating a gentle chemical exfoliant containing lactic or glycolic acid once or twice a week added a fresh glow to my complexion. However, I made sure not to use it on the same nights as retinol to avoid irritation. Beyond the products, ChatGPT’s advice to prioritize good sleep, stay hydrated, eat a protein-rich diet, avoid smoking, and protect skin from sun exposure has been invaluable. These lifestyle habits complemented my routine and accelerated improvements. For anyone struggling with oily skin and unsure where to start, combining affordable, effective products with consistent habits can lead to clearer, healthier skin. It’s a journey, but leveraging AI recommendations like ChatGPT’s helped me take confident first steps toward better skincare.
