The Things We Pretend Don’t Hurt

Let’s have a real moment.

Sometimes we say:

“I’m fine.”

“It’s whatever.”

“It doesn’t matter.”

But it does.

Growth doesn’t start with pretending.

It starts with honesty.

For me?

I’m learning to admit when something actually hurts instead of brushing it off.

💬 AskLemon8:

What’s something you’re working through quietly?

You don’t have to overshare.

Just one word if that’s easier.

Comment “REAL” if you’re in your growth era. 💎

... Read moreIn my own journey toward emotional growth, I’ve realized how common it is to mask our true feelings with phrases like “I’m fine” or “It doesn’t matter.” These words often serve as shields to protect us from vulnerability, but they also prevent us from truly confronting our pain. A powerful shift happens when we start to recognize the small hurts we’ve been ignoring. One thing I’ve learned is that admitting pain doesn’t show weakness; it highlights strength and self-awareness. For example, in stressful times, instead of pretending everything is okay, I’ve tried to pause and honestly name what’s bothering me—whether it’s disappointment, loneliness, or fear. This practice has opened doors for deeper conversations and authentic connections with the people I trust. The phrase from the image, “BE HONEST... What’s something you're pretending doesn't bother you?” really hit home for me. It’s an invitation to stop hiding behind emotional facades. By facing those feelings head-on, we can begin a growth season where healing isn’t just a buzzword but a lived experience. If you’re working through something quietly, remember that you don’t need to share everything upfront. Even identifying your emotions with one word can be a meaningful first step toward self-acceptance and healing. It’s also helpful to engage with supportive communities or practices like journaling and mindfulness to track your progress. Ultimately, real growth and emotional resilience come from honesty—being truthful with ourselves about what hurts and giving ourselves permission to heal. Pretending doesn’t move us forward, but embracing our pain as part of the human experience empowers us to become stronger and more compassionate individuals.

Being ignored or feeling invisible. Both by a man whom says "I love you".

Things people call “normal” that actually hurt relationships
People normalize a lot of unhealthy behavior because "everyone does it." But some habits don't create love... they create distance, anxiety, resentment, and emotional exhaustion. • Silent treatment Not speaking for hours or days to "teach someone a lesson." One person f

God Is Not Asking You to Pretend
Some people have been taught that needing love means they’re weak. Too emotional. Too attached. Too needy. So they learn to suppress it. They become independent to the point of isolation. Strong to the point of emotional exhaustion. Helpful to everyone else while quietly carrying loneliness alone

Silence isn’t always peace.
There was a time I believed silence was strength. I thought keeping the peace meant staying quiet. I thought not speaking up meant I was being mature. I thought enduring things quietly was part of being strong. But silence can also be a place where pain grows. When you hold everything in

Healing Happens in the Parts of You No One Sees
It’s always the quiet moments that get you. Not the loud ones, not the days when life is throwing a thousand things at you. It’s when the house finally goes still, when your phone isn’t buzzing, when the world stops asking for anything, that’s when it all rises to the surface. You’re sitting

PART 1: 12 THINGS PEOPLE PRETEND DO NOT AFFECT THEM ⚠️(Read twice & Comment)
