POV: come back to Singapore with me 🍋
the journey from Malaysia back to my rented room in Singapore ✨
.
Traveling between Malaysia and Singapore regularly offers a unique perspective on cross-border life that many may not realize. From personal experience, the journey itself is not just a transit but a mini-adventure filled with small moments that reconnect you to both places. One weekend, I packed a lot to bring back: clothes I haven't worn lately, my work laptop, and even some traditional snacks like zongzi, which give a nostalgic touch to the trip. I know many who travel this route worry about possible delays or breakdowns on the bus, and admittedly, I felt that anxiety on my first trip. But often, the blue skies and occasional chance to sit comfortably on the MRT make the journey soothing rather than stressful. The transition from bustling Malaysia to my quiet rented space in Singapore is refreshing. After unpacking, I make it a point to hydrate well—Singapore’s heat calls for plenty of water! Evenings are perfect for a casual stroll or grabbing a simple treat like douhua (tofu pudding) at just $1.00—such small joys that make me appreciate the city more. Work can get hectic, and sometimes my desk ends up messy, but weekends like these allow me to reorganize and recharge mentally. I often find that a bit of solitude at home after a travel day is a crucial energy booster. It’s funny how adjusting to the border crossing rhythm and navigating day-to-day errands recharges much more than you expect. For anyone considering similar travels, my tip is to embrace the journey fully—take in the sights, carry your essentials smartly, and find comfort in familiar treats and routines once you arrive. Traveling this route is about balancing the hustle with moments of calm and finding your personal way to refresh amid a busy schedule.

enjoy your trip 🙂
