Finally left this stressful place😫

I know this is long overdue, but I wanted to chat about it. I’ve been so busy trying to get used to my new job, thank goodness! 😮‍💨 Recently, I was browsing my page and came across my old post about landing this job, which got me thinking about the big regrets I have about it. So, let me list the pros and cons

Pros-

1.✅you don’t need any experience

2.✅I made lasting friendships 🩷

3.✅I was able to put some mortgage experience on my resume

Cons-

1.❌ they rush the learning process narrowing down concepts you should know within at least 3 weeks narrowed down to 1

2.❌you are constantly moving desk never ending

3.❌no cubicles you basically work in a warehouse with tvs blasting over your head loud af

4.❌ If you want any answers for anyone over the phone, you have to run around the building asking different people to see if they know the answers.

5.❌the process guide is constantly changing and simultaneously not giving us the answers we needed(I have never witnessed a more useless guide in my life)

6. ❌no paid lunches and when u clock back in from lunch you can’t be a second late clocking in

7.❌a lot of favoritism going on with management certain things aren’t ok if someone else does it but if they have a fave they will let it slide

8.❌ Productivity goals are incredibly unrealistic, yet they are imposed on individuals regardless, and they face consequences such as termination if they fail to meet those quotas.

9.❌you don’t have your own queue to work from it’s a huge pool of loans that everyone dips their hands in and grab whatever they can to work on

10.❌ once you work on a loan it does not come back to you it just cycles through again for someone else to grab it leaving it up to the other person to figure out where you left off

11.❌Turnover rate was 70% last time I was there

12.❌bc working with brokers is their biggest priority they let a lot of crazy talk slide they only get a slap on the wrist by their AE’s

13.❌now I know the reason why they talk crazy over the phone it’s bc they are upset by the things we are told to tell them like "they are working on it promptly" even though we told them that a million times

14.❌ we have certain words we can’t say over the phone like "idk" "im not sure" "can’t" "we can’t do that" even if it’s true you have to coat everything you say with sugar they want you to reassure them but your basically lying to them

That was all I could think of but there is plenty more I had to get some of this off my chest and vent😮‍💨

... Read moreTransitioning from one job to another can be a massive relief, especially when your previous workplace was as stressful and chaotic as the one I just left. In my experience, working in a high-pressure environment without proper support or structure can really take a toll on your mental health and job satisfaction. One of the biggest challenges I faced was the constant noise and lack of a proper workspace — imagine trying to concentrate in a warehouse setting with loud TVs blasting overhead! It’s hard to stay focused, and that environment only added stress. Another aspect that stood out was how the company handled learning and productivity. They rushed the training process, cramming what should have been weeks of learning into just a few days. This left many of us feeling unprepared and overwhelmed from day one. Additionally, the unrealistic productivity goals coupled with favoritism from management made it difficult to succeed unless you were in the 'good books.' It created a competitive and unfair atmosphere that ultimately contributed to a high turnover rate. The lack of clear communication and unhelpful process guides were incredibly frustrating. Having to run around the building asking for answers during calls, only to receive inconsistent information, was exhausting. Plus, not having dedicated queues for work made it confusing to track progress on tasks, as loans and assignments would cycle randomly among staff. On a positive note, despite all the negatives, I was able to make lasting friendships which made the experience more bearable. Also, gaining mortgage industry experience was a step forward for my resume and future opportunities. Reflecting on this, I’ve learned the importance of a supportive work environment, clear communication, and reasonable expectations. If you find yourself in a similar stressful place, remember to prioritize your well-being and be open to finding new opportunities that value you as an individual. Venting and sharing these experiences help us realize we're not alone, and it’s crucial to focus on growth both professionally and personally.
