What to do when visiting Seattle WA 📍

🌞 Day 1:

Seattle Glassblowing Studio

This place is SO underrated! Watching artists create amazing glass sculptures feels like magic. If you’re feeling bold, you can try making your own piece to take home. Even if you don’t, their gallery is stunning, and it’s a warm, cozy spot to escape the cold for a bit. Perfect for artsy people or anyone who just loves something unique

Pike Place Market

This market is such a vibe! From the fresh flowers to the flying fish, there’s always something cool happening. Grab mac and cheese at Beecher’s (Oprah-approved, FYI) or just wander through the stalls for unique finds. Whether you’re snapping pics at the iconic sign or people-watching, it’s impossible not to feel the energy here. Tip: Wear layers—it’s mostly outdoors, and winter can be chilly!

Chihuly Garden and Glass

This museum is straight-up gorgeous. Think larger-than-life glass sculptures in vibrant colors that look like something out of a fantasy world. The glasshouse with its massive installation is total Instagram goals, and the outdoor garden is just as stunning. It’s cozy and warm indoors, making it perfect for winter. Trust me, this place is unforgettable—you’ll be talking about it forever

🌞 Day 2:

Seattle Waterfront

If you love city views and waterfront vibes, this is IT. Walking along the waterfront is so relaxing, even in the colder months. The Great Wheel is a must-do—heated gondolas make it cozy while you take in the skyline and ocean views. You can also check out the aquarium or just enjoy the street performers and cute shops

Discovery Park

The trails are peaceful and lead to some of the best views of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains. Even in the winter, the fresh air and quiet vibes are worth it (plus, it’s less crowded!). Bring good shoes and a warm jacket—you’ll want to explore as much as you can

Pioneer Square

Pioneer Square is giving all the historic charm. It’s Seattle’s oldest neighborhood, with cool cobblestone streets and beautiful architecture. Don’t skip Waterfall Garden Park—it’s a hidden little oasis with a waterfall right in the middle of the city. Whether you’re into history, art, or just vibing with cute streets, this area has it all

... Read moreThe original article provides a great 2-day overview. To make your 48-hour Seattle adventure even more epic, I've got some extra tips and personal insights from my trip that I wish I knew beforehand! First, let’s talk about Pike Place Market. While the flying fish are a spectacle, don't miss exploring the lower levels! I stumbled upon some incredible artisan shops there, selling handmade jewelry and unique local art that make perfect souvenirs. And for coffee lovers, remember the original Starbucks is just across the street from the main market entrance – the line can be long, but it’s a fun piece of Seattle history. Another food tip: venture a block or two away from the main market for some amazing clam chowder spots that aren't as crowded as the ones right inside. I found a tiny corner cafe with the most delicious, creamy chowder that was a true hidden gem! Parking can be a nightmare, so consider using ride-shares or public transport if you can. When planning your 48 hours in Seattle, think about grouping attractions geographically to save time. For instance, my Day 1 itinerary (Seattle Glassblowing Studio, Pike Place, Chihuly Garden) was pretty well laid out because Chihuly and the Space Needle (which you can see in the OCR images and is a must-photo op, even if you don't go up!) are right next to each other at Seattle Center, and Pike Place is walkable from there. For Day 2, Discovery Park is a bit further out, so I recommend starting there, then heading back into town for the Waterfront and Pioneer Square. Public transportation, especially the bus system, is quite efficient for getting between these areas. I bought an ORCA card, which made it super easy. Speaking of the Seattle Glassblowing Studio, I was so glad I went! It's such a unique experience. Beyond just watching, they often have workshops where you can actually blow your own small piece like an ornament or a paperweight. It’s a bit nerve-wracking but so rewarding to create something with your own hands. Make sure to book ahead, especially on weekends, as spots fill up fast. It’s a wonderful warm escape, especially if you visit in the cooler months, just as the article mentioned. The vibrant sculptures I saw being created were truly mesmerizing, reminding me a lot of the intricate pieces at Chihuly Garden and Glass. For those looking for things to see in Seattle Washington that offer a different perspective, consider taking a ferry! Even a short ride across Puget Sound to Bainbridge Island gives you incredible views of the city skyline, including the iconic Space Needle, and the surrounding mountains. It’s a cheap and cheerful way to get out on the water and see Seattle from a distance. The ferry terminal is right on the Seattle Waterfront, making it an easy add-on to your Day 2 activities. The views from the Great Wheel are fantastic, but a ferry offers a broader panorama. Finally, for evening seattle weekend activities, many neighborhoods offer lively scenes. Capitol Hill is known for its diverse restaurants and bars, while Fremont has a quirkier, artsy vibe. After a day of exploring, enjoying a local craft beer or some fresh seafood becomes part of the authentic Seattle experience. Don't forget to check out the local music scene too – Seattle has a rich history of live music venues!
