the nephron, the layers of human skin, and the alveoli in the lungs. The nephron is the functional unit of the kidney that filters blood. It consists of structures such as the glomerulus, Bowman’s capsule, proximal and distal convoluted tubules, loop of Henle, and collecting duct. Its main roles are filtering waste, reabsorbing useful substances, regulating water balance, and forming urine. The skin is made of three layers: epidermis, dermis, and hypodermis. It contains hair follicles, sweat glands, sebaceous glands, blood vessels, and nerve endings. The skin protects the body, regulates temperature, produces sweat, and provides sensation. Alveoli are tiny air sacs in the lungs where gas exchange occurs, allowing oxygen to enter the blood and carbon dioxide to leave efficiently.
