... Read moreIn crafting engaging content, understanding the human brain's response is crucial. While the triune brain model simplifies the brain into three parts—the reptilian (instinctual), the limbic (emotional), and the neocortex (rational)—it provides a useful framework for content creators. When your content appeals first to the reptilian brain, you tap into basic survival instincts like attention and immediate reaction. Using strong visuals or urgent language can capture this part effectively. Next, engaging the limbic system means triggering emotions such as empathy, excitement, or curiosity. Storytelling, relatable scenarios, or emotional appeals deepen this connection, making your audience more invested. Finally, addressing the neocortex involves providing logical and detailed information. Facts, data, and clear explanations satisfy the rational mind, encouraging thoughtful consideration and trust. From personal experience managing social media, I noticed posts that sequentially hit these three brain areas perform significantly better. For example, a video thumbnail (reptilian) grabs immediate attention, the story behind the video (limbic) emotionally draws viewers in, and insightful commentary or research (neocortex) keeps them engaged longer or motivates action. Integrating this brain-based approach into your marketing strategy can create a memorable and persuasive content journey that climbs the 'three-step ladder' of engagement your audience subconsciously follows.

Disclaimer: modern neuroscience considers the truine brain model to be oversimplified but it's still an easy way to explain the viewers brain in marketing
