7 ways to get more fiber for gut health

Fiber is the main energy source for our good gut bacteria!

It can increase the good bacteria in our gut and improve our intestinal environment + it can help reduce inflammation. On top of that fiber helps our body regulate the body's use of sugars, helping to keep hunger and blood sugar in check!

Fiber actually helps us be less bloated by keeping us ✨regular ✨ so it’s important to get 25-30g daily!

Here are some super easy, practical tips to add in more fiber:

1. Grab green bananas instead of yellow

2. Leave the skin on for apples, pears, potatoes, sweet potatoes, etc.

3. Eat fruits & veggies in whole form instead of juice to get more fiber

4. Add berries, papaya, dragon fruit, peaches, or mango to your smoothies/bowls!

5. Make overnight oats & chia seeds w/ a protein & healthy fat source

6. Add avocado to your plate (5+ grams of fiber)

7. Add a prebiotic fiber supplement to smoothies

Hope these tips help!

... Read moreFiber plays a crucial role in maintaining good gut health. It serves as an energy source for beneficial gut bacteria, promoting a balanced microbiome and improving digestion. Incorporating high-fiber foods helps alleviate bloating, regulates blood sugar levels, and supports overall wellness. Some fiber-rich foods include legumes, oats, bananas, and whole grains. Consider adding more whole fruits and vegetables to your diet, as they contain essential vitamins and antioxidants along with fiber. Smoothies enriched with fruits like berries and mangoes not only taste great but can significantly boost your fiber intake. Additionally, try to include sources of both soluble and insoluble fiber, such as chia seeds, nuts, and leafy greens, to ensure a varied microbiome ecosystem. Regularly consuming fiber can lead to long-term health benefits, including a reduced risk of digestive disorders, better weight management, and improved heart health. Aim for the daily recommended intake of 25-30 grams of fiber to reap these benefits.

The only thing I will never understand is why people say blending it takes away fiber. It’s the same fruit regardless if it’s blended or not and it has the same nutrients no matter what form it’s in.
