benefits of not eating sugar
I struggle with Candida (yeast) overgrowths & carbs flare up symptoms so avoiding carbs has been a game changer for my skin, bloating and inflammation!
I follow the Candida diet protocol which is a low carb diet. I don’t have wheat, rice, potatoes, grains, sugar, sweeteners, etc.
I’ve seen big changes in my acne around ovulation and my period. I’m getting less fungal acne which is small red pimples or white heads.
My bloating and acid reflux are so much better when I don’t eat carbs! My overall digestion is more better too 🥹 plus I’ve seen big drop in inflammation in my body and face!! You can really see the around my jaw line.
This diet to the extent is temporary while I’m trying to stop the infection 🫶🏻 it’s not good to completely avoid carbs forever but it does have benefits especially if you’re struggling with inflammation.
Hope this helps!!

When I first considered cutting out sugar, I honestly didn't realize how much it was impacting my daily life. Like many of us, I thought a little sugar here and there was harmless, but my body was telling a different story, especially with issues like constant acne and a bloated gut. One of the most immediate and visible changes I experienced was with my skin. For years, I battled breakouts, including those stubborn small red pimples and whiteheads often referred to as fungal acne. After stopping sugar, I noticed my skin clears up dramatically. It turns out, sugar can fuel inflammation and contribute to hormonal imbalances, which are major culprits behind acne. By removing that trigger, my skin had a chance to calm down and heal. The reduction in sugar intake also helps regulate insulin levels, which can minimize excess oil production, leading to fewer clogged pores and a clearer complexion. It's truly amazing to see how much just this one change can impact skin health! Beyond just my skin, my digestive system underwent a massive overhaul. I used to experience bloating decreases constantly, along with uncomfortable acid reflux. I learned that sugar feeds harmful bacteria and yeast (like Candida, which I was dealing with) in the gut, leading to an imbalance that causes these digestive woes. By cutting out sugars and refined carbs, I starved the overgrowing yeast and bad bacteria, allowing my gut microbiome to rebalance itself. This led to a significant decrease in bloating and acid reflux, making me feel so much lighter and more comfortable after meals. My overall digestion improved, which in turn seemed to boost my general well-being. Another surprising benefit was a noticeable shift in my overall energy levels. Before, I'd often experience energy crashes in the afternoon, feeling sluggish and needing another coffee or sweet treat to power through. Since stopping sugar, my energy is more sustainable throughout the day. This is because my body is no longer on a rollercoaster of blood sugar spikes and drops. Instead, it's learning to rely on more stable energy sources, leading to a consistent and sustained feeling of vitality without the jitters or crashes. This consistent energy has made a huge difference in my productivity and mood. Finally, the widespread inflammation decreases throughout my body was a huge win. Chronic inflammation is linked to so many health issues, and sugar is a major contributor. By cutting it out, I felt less stiffness, less puffiness (especially around my jaw line, as others might notice too!), and generally healthier. While a strict, low-carb diet might be temporary for specific health goals like mine, understanding the profound impact sugar has on our bodies is key. It's not about deprivation forever, but about making informed choices that support our health from the inside out.

This is something I’ve been super interested in doing! However I drink so much caffeine (energy drinks and coffee) to get me through my 4:30am - 10pm life 🫢 do you have any low sugar alternatives?!
