how to detox from your phone & social media

If you’re constantly reaching for your phone or feeling overstimulated often, I recommend a phone detox!

It’s so healthy to take a step back from our phones and social media. When I’m constantly feeling anxious, I make a conscious effort to be on my phone less!

This really helps because I’m able to ground myself & not constantly feel distracted. Our phones can be something that people wind down with often, but if you’re scrolling on your phone, you’re not truly resting.

I recommend making routines that don’t involve your phone! Or leaving your phone in the other room while you shower or get ready.

Doing an activity that doesn’t involve your phone is such a great screen break!🥹

The hour after you wake up and go to bed are key when making sure you staying off your phone! You don’t want to immediately put yourself into comparison mode on social media or you see a bunch of emails that causes extra anxiety!

So it’s best to wait to stay off your phone until you’ve done your routine! Same goes for going to bed! The light our phones admit is very stimulating so it’s good to not look at our phones as tryin to go to bed.

Hope this helps!!

... Read moreIn today's hyperconnected world, many people struggle with the urge to constantly check their phones and engage on social media. This can lead to feelings of anxiety and distraction, making it essential to learn how to detox effectively. One key strategy is to establish phone-free routines. For example, consider starting your day without your phone; instead of scrolling through social media first thing in the morning, take time to meditate or enjoy a healthy breakfast. Additionally, aim to keep your phone out of reach during essential activities, such as showering or family meals, fostering deeper connections with loved ones. Another beneficial approach is to set specific times for phone use. Limiting your screen time will help ensure you have focused periods to disconnect. Try implementing a screen-free hour before bedtime, which can improve sleep quality by reducing exposure to blue light emitted by devices. By creating intentional breaks and scheduling offline activities, such as reading, exercising, or exploring hobbies, you’re investing time into your mental well-being. Don’t forget the importance of self-reflection as part of your detox journey. Journaling about your experiences and feelings during this process can provide insight into your relationship with your devices. Understanding triggers that lead to excessive phone use can be a significant step toward healthier habits. Remember, a detox does not mean completely abandoning technology; instead, it’s about finding balance and using your devices mindfully to enhance, rather than detract from, your life.

Unplugging even for a little bit always hits different. Feels kinda weird at first but honestly, my brain always thanks me after a break.
