what my inner child was telling me
I’ve had to do a lot of inner child work because I grew up with emotionally unavailable parents and developed an avoidant attachment style!
This has really shaped my self esteem & the type of relationships I’ve been in!
The first step is being aware of the things your inner child believes. Here are some of mine:
my inner child: I’m too emotional & it makes me weak
v.s. my healed self: my emotions are beautiful & it’s a strength to feel deeply
my inner child: I’m shy & quiet
v.s. my healed self: I’ve learned how to open up more to people & being reserved is not a bad thing all the time!
my inner child: I’m not worthy
v.s. my healed self: I am worthy & enough just by existing!!
my inner child: nothing can go wrong
v.s. my healed self: if something does go wrong I will figure it out & it’s a normal part of life
the second step is changing your subconscious! This is what I’m working on now & it takes time!! I journal, meditate, & go to therapy to work on this part of myself.
It’s so worth working on your inner child & I hope you can find peace with it one day 🫶🏻

Inner child work is a vital journey toward healing emotional wounds formed during childhood, particularly for those with emotionally unavailable parents. Understanding what your inner child believes can uncover limiting beliefs and promote healing. For instance, recognizing that being emotional isn’t weakness can lead to a realization of the beauty in deep feelings. Similarly, overcoming shyness opens up opportunities for connection, as being reserved can be appreciated in the right contexts. A critical belief many face is the idea of not being worthy, which can be transformed into a powerful affirmation of self-worth simply by existing. Embracing the normalcy of life’s ups and downs, especially in the face of failure, can shift one’s perspective and enhance resilience. Journaling, meditating, and attending therapy are effective methods for changing subconscious beliefs and can provide immense benefits on the healing journey. It’s important to prioritize this work and celebrate the progress made, as finding peace with our inner child is a worthy pursuit.
