The Scent of Identity: My Exploration of Perfume
A very good day to you all!! As you can see from my title, today I’m gonna discuss about smelling great not just good but great!!
I started off my fragrance journey just like any other person. Following the trend and not knowing what I’m doing.
I started off with the usual with Chanel de blue, Versace Eros to name a few. But I soon realised that I smell to mainstream and wanted a change. About 10 years ago I was introduced to Tom ford by a colleague of mine. Although he or his brand is known for his dope ass suits which even till now I highly recommend every guy getting a suit from Tom ford, I love how he links all his department together. Like fragrance links with his suits and shoes. That there is a suit and fragrance for every occasion. Unlike other brands that it’s so distance from each other.
So I switched it up and started with Tom ford Noir extreme. Which even till now, I feel it’s a scent that best suited me. Than I followed up with Tom ford Oud wood. A very nice scent that is used for the evening/night when you are out partying.
Than about 8 years ago, a buddy of mine introduced me to Penhaligon’s. A brand that I came to love. So was introduced to Penhaligon Lord George. With a base note of tonka bean and smells like royalty. It took me awhile to decide to buy. Which is what I like about the brand. They don’t push you to buy immediately. They give you a sample and let you try on when you are home.
Which I did, went home and wear it when I’m out and at work. And my oh my it sure draws positive attention.
Went back and bought my first bottle. Which it’s what I need to mention to you guys.
When you guys decide to buy a fragrance. Do consider the ingredients that is in it. Like for me, tonka bean seats so well on me.. goes well even when I sweat. So do try on different fragrance of different base notes that suit you perfectly.
So whats next I ask myself, I wanted a fragrance that is able to layer. So for example like Lord George with a different fragrance that complements each other and when you manage to do it.. you smell just wonderful. I did manage to find different fragrances that suit each other. That explains my first picture. Same brand different fragrance.
Well i still love Tom ford fragrances the fragrances don’t really allow the flexibility of layering with each other. It’s great as a stand alone fragrance.
So alittle advice.. explore your options, Hermes do offer some great fragrances too.. if you want to know the fragrance to not buy. I would gladly advise in person. Other than that have a great day!!!
