Support After part 1

A scene from my AU that I had to draw to get it out of my brain. Part 1 of 2.

Bailey loses control and goes full spider for the first time. He's brought to the X Mansion for medical tests to make sure he's not hurt, and Toto runs to be by his side. Always helps to have a friend with you when you have medical trauma.

Been feverishly working on this, glad to finally share. Hope you like this addition to my AU!

... Read moreAdding to my AU takes a lot of thought, especially when I'm tackling a pivotal moment like Bailey's first full spider transformation. I really wanted to explore the raw, immediate aftermath of such a terrifying event, not just for Bailey (my Spider-Boy!), but for those closest to him, particularly Toto (Kidpool). It's one thing to have powers, but another entirely when they manifest so dramatically and uncontrollably, changing you physically in such a striking way – imagine growing fangs and multiple eyes for the first time! When I envisioned this scene, I pictured the panic, the fear, and then the critical need for immediate care. That's why bringing him to the X-Mansion for medical tests felt like the most logical and safest step. It’s not just about physical transformation; it’s about the mental and emotional toll, which I think of as a kind of 'medical trauma' in itself. The OCR recognized the news report from 'Daily Bugle TV' asking 'CHILD HEROES OR SOLDIERS?' and that really highlights the external pressure and scrutiny these young heroes face. It adds another layer of stress to an already overwhelming situation for someone like Bailey. Seeing Kidpool, still in his X-Men hoodie, rushing to Bailey’s side was non-negotiable for me. In my AU, their bond is everything. Even amidst the chaos, with Bailey looking distressed, startled, and dazed with those red marks and new features, Toto's presence is a grounding force. I wanted to show that unwavering support – someone who doesn't recoil from the 'spider-like creature' but instead sees his friend, Bailey. The OCR picked up on Toto asking 'Are you okay?' and grabbing his shoulders, even complimenting his 'fur-hair' and fangs, calling him a 'giant spider' in an affectionate way. That encapsulates their dynamic perfectly: a blend of genuine concern and a unique acceptance of the extraordinary. This whole sequence, from Bailey losing control to being brought to the X-Mansion, is about the importance of having a friend when you're facing something truly overwhelming. It's about finding comfort and acceptance when you feel like a monster. The idea of a young hero suddenly manifesting such drastic changes – growing fangs, multiple eyes, becoming a 'giant spider' – is a major turning point, and I wanted to capture the vulnerability and the immediate need for a safe space and familiar face. This part of the story really emphasizes that even powerful heroes need emotional support, especially when dealing with internal changes that are as frightening as any external threat. It’s not just about stopping villains; it’s about navigating personal crises with the help of your chosen family.
