Hiace x Isuzu Tow x Melayu

Ever thought of working this industry? What it takes to be a Tower? I'll put it to simple words. (negative side) Can you take pressures? Fast pace? When people only call you when they need you, and almost forget about you right after you're done helping them? Can you take the mental pressure? Your mental health, physical health? You will have little to no time with your loved ones. Family time? Very little. Unless off days. But you're only entittled to one off per week. Some 1 off day per 2 weeks. Forget about weekend outings with your girlfriend/boyfriend/wife/husband/family. You're constantly working on Weekends and on the road helping others but yourself. The burnt out days, the tiring days, days where you feel like giving up. If you don't have the will to do all of this, then it won't be easy on ya. But, if you have discipline and willingness to help others and don't give a shit about your own mental health, then you may get a shot at this. With great power, comes great responsibilities. People think we just tow. But we do more than that. My senior/teacher always say : "you know there's this quote : Only the toughest will survive? This industry is one of it."

Pay? It's a 50/50 commission. Some companies pays basic and commissions. But smaller. Those 50/50 coms, no job or lesser jobs on the day = lesser income.

Let that sink in. I'm sharing this not to scare others, but I really need to let anyone here know, what are they up against.

One of the toughest aspects is managing the constant mental pressure that comes with a fast-paced environment where your help is urgently needed but often underappreciated once the job is done. In my experience, the emotional strain can be as challenging as the physical fatigue. Knowing that you might be missing out on important family moments because of unpredictable schedules feels isolating. The nature of commission-based pay adds another layer of instability, making financial planning difficult. On slow days, income drops significantly, creating stress that can affect personal relationships. Communication with your loved ones before committing to this career is vital. Being open about the demands and securing their understanding can prevent many domestic conflicts. A strong support system at home helps maintain mental health in the long run. Furthermore, beyond just towing, the role requires quick problem-solving and the ability to handle emergencies calmly. This job isn’t for everyone—it demands toughness and dedication. However, for those who find purpose in helping others despite these challenges, it can be incredibly rewarding. Learning to balance the hardships with moments of success and gratitude is key to staying motivated. If you’re considering joining this field, prepare yourself not only physically but also mentally and emotionally. Having discipline, a willingness to persevere, and a firm grasp on work-life boundaries can make a significant difference in your experience as a tow truck operator.
