Running Tips ✨

Happy Friday junior !!

I’ve been in the running mood lately, it’s been great to get my steps in, sweat some, and build my endurance🔥

It’s SO easy to fall off of a running schedule and then it becomes soooo hard ‼️(I’ve been there)

Here are some of tips that help me keep going 💪:

1) I ALWAYS listen to hype music (may I recommend Big Bootie vol. 21, 22, or 24)??

2) I run for time, not speed!! If you’re gassing yourself trying to run the fastest you can, but can’t maintain it — that’s why you quit so easily

3) But a good pair of sneakers — now you don’t HAVE to buy Brooks, On Clouds, or Hokas, but it definitely makes a difference! (At least incest in a training AND cardio shoe) 👟 PLEASE don’t run in converse or vans 🤣

4) Pace yourself, and when you find yourself wanting to quit, ask: Am I really tired, or am I bored and want to stop? Can I keep going, is my body physically able to but my mind is telling me I can’t? Those “check ins” make the worlds difference for me when I run!🏃‍♀️

5) If you’re entirely NEW to running — look up “Couch to 5k” training charts, it may seem “silly” to run for 1 min only to walk for 1, but it’s building your endurance and slowly welcoming you to longer windows of running vs. walking. You’d be surprised!!

Running is challenging, but it can also be really rewarding when you get into a good routine 💕

For instance, creating a tailor-made playlist that energizes you helps overcome the fatigue that often accompanies exercise. Consider incorporating podcasts or audiobooks for mental engagement while on the move. Focus on setting achievable goals, such as gradually increasing your distance or time. This step-by-step approach fosters consistency and improves endurance without the pressure of expected speeds. Engage in run-walk strategies; these methods not only enhance endurance but also make running feel less intimidating. Resources like the 'Couch to 5K' program provide structured guidance, gradually introducing you to the world of running. Furthermore, invest in quality running shoes to ensure comfort and prevent injuries. Footwear designed for running supports your feet better than casual sneakers, reducing the risk of discomfort over longer distances. It's crucial to listen to your body and adjust your pace according to your energy levels. Regular check-ins during your runs can aid in identifying whether you're truly fatigued or needing a mental break. Also, seek community support through local running groups or online forums, which offer encouragement and camaraderie. Engaging with fellow runners can make the experience more enjoyable and hold you accountable. Drawing from others’ experiences can provide insights and new perspectives on overcoming challenges in running. Being part of a supportive running community can significantly enhance motivation and adherence to your running routine.
