My new favorite show! This show was amazing, it was very captivating and keeps you watching more. Granted it was very violent and bloody with a lot swearing but that can be assumed with a show about the cannabis industry in England. Charlie Hunnam plays in the original Gentlemen which follows a similar story line and has the same director. The way the director films both of these are amazing and i will be looking into other movies and shows he’s made. LET ME KNOW IF YOU WATCHED IT AND ENJOYED IT.
... Read moreOkay, let's talk about 'The Gentlemen' Netflix series, especially for those of you, like me, who landed here searching for 'Charlie Hunnam The Gentlemen'! It's a common point of confusion, and the OCR even noted it: 'Charlie Hunnam not to be confused with The Gentlemen Directed by Guy Ritchie.' To clarify, while Charlie Hunnam was a standout in Guy Ritchie's original 'The Gentlemen' movie, he actually isn't in the new Netflix series. This specific 'The Gentlemen N Series' is a spin-off, expanding the universe, and it introduces a whole 'new class of criminal' led by Theo James, as the promotional poster clearly shows.
But don't let Charlie's absence deter you! If you loved the movie's sharp dialogue, intricate plots, and signature Ritchie style, you're in for a treat. The series absolutely captures that essence. From the moment I started watching, I was hooked. It’s got all the captivating, high-stakes drama you'd expect, centered around the murky world of the cannabis industry in England. Yes, it's violent, bloody, and full of colorful language – just like the original film – but it's all part of the immersive experience that Ritchie masterfully crafts. What I particularly loved was how the show maintains that unique blend of sophisticated crime and dark humor that only Guy Ritchie can deliver. Every character, from the refined aristocrats to the rough-and-tumble gangsters, feels incredibly well-developed and has their own quirks and motivations.
What truly makes this series stand out, even without the original cast, is how it delves deeper into the aristocratic world colliding with the criminal underworld. Theo James does an incredible job as the Duke who inherits a massive weed empire. His journey from an unsuspecting nobleman to a savvy crime boss is incredibly engaging. He's not just an observer; he's forced to adapt and get his hands dirty, often in hilariously awkward and terrifying ways. The supporting cast, featuring brilliant performances from actors like Kaya Scodelario and Daniel Ings, is equally brilliant, bringing a fresh dynamic to Guy Ritchie's distinctive storytelling. I found myself constantly guessing what would happen next, and the twists and turns kept me on the edge of my seat. It’s a masterclass in how to build tension and surprise the audience without relying on cheap thrills.
For anyone who appreciates a good crime drama with a darkly comedic edge, this is a must-watch. It's not just a rehash; it’s an expansion that feels both familiar and refreshingly new. The cinematography is stunning, with sweeping shots of English estates contrasting with gritty urban landscapes, and the soundtrack is on point, perfectly punctuating the action and humor. The pacing is relentless, making it incredibly easy to binge-watch an entire season in a weekend. If you were a fan of the movie, or even just looking for a new binge-worthy crime series that offers something beyond the usual, I wholeheartedly recommend giving 'The Gentlemen N Series' on Netflix a try. It’s a captivating dive into a world where old money meets new crime, and it absolutely delivers on the Guy Ritchie promise of stylish, gritty, and utterly entertaining chaos. You might go in looking for Charlie Hunnam, but you'll stay for Theo James and the incredible new story that unfolds!
I’m loving this show!
